Fixing and giving: St. Francis appliance repair business starts charity donation program
ST. FRANCIS – An appliance repair company in St. Francis is paying it forward with an unusual type of donation program.
When All City Appliance completes a repair job, the customer may choose any charity to receive a $5 donation from the business. And if a customer refers another customer, the referring customer may choose a charity to receive $5 as well.
“We’ve worked really hard to become the best appliance repair company in Milwaukee County, and we have the best customers in the world,” said founder and lead technician Michael Grimshaw. “To show our appreciation we’ve decided to give something back to our community.”
Any charity is eligible, from food banks to animal shelters to a neighbor’s medical bill.
“We’re a small, family business,” Grimshaw said. “We know what it’s like at the end of the month when you want to contribute to something meaningful, but just don’t have enough left over.”
Since the repair company, a small, family business, often gets referrals from Facebook, as well as NextDoor and other neighborhood websites, the program includes referrals made on social media. The first person to recommend All City Appliance to a new customer can choose a charity to receive a $5 donation.
“We didn’t make it this far on our own, and we think it’s important to share what we have,” Grimshaw added.
